In 2024, SMACS installations are upgraded as part of a plan to ensure the long-term viability of the critical infrastructures.
Lausanne, Switzerland – 17 of July 2024
FASTCOM Technology SA announces the completion of the project with Geneva International Airport to upgrade the SMACS installed in the year 2010. The SMACS ensures secure access between the national and international zones of the airport. Installed almost 15 years ago, it has operated without disruption ever since. In order to guarantee its longevity, an upgrade is being carried out.
The challenge: Geneva International Airport needs to manage access between the national and international zones. To achieve this, SMACS solutions were installed in the year 2010. After almost 15 years of continuous and undisturbed service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is required to ensure the system's longevity, while guaranteeing the business continuity. In addition, as part of the upgrade, greater energy efficiency and enhanced data security are required.
The solution: The security concept meets the highest security standards. All flows of people and materials into the IT areas must be secured. Access must be quick and easy for authorized employees, but impassable for unauthorized persons. Material transports must be possible both separately and combined with simultaneous personnel access
«SMACS are important solutions for guaranteeing the level of security required for our activities. After nearly 15 years of continuous use without a hitch, it was important to implement an upgrade to ensure their longevity. The upgrade also enabled us to improve our energy efficiency and data security.»
Mr. Sansonnens, security and IT services expert, Geneva International Airport
